hey guys... im wanting to create a guitar instrumental, you know 3 or 4 mins long, solo guitar, chords/melody type thing.
is there any sites for tips/info on this tyoe of thing?
i have a melody i want to use already...

Well, there isn't really any "tip" other than a focused study on all the basic principles of composition.

dude just write it down and if it sounds cool then thats it. you dont have to follow a conventional pattern, it could compromise the awesomeness of the song

It depends on what you like. For me, I would choose a band you really like and build off somewhat similar to how they set songs up whether it be: Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, outro, blah blah. Just get a feel for a few songs... But practice makes it perfect. You make your own songs...
