Hey all, firstly, i'd like to announce that my search for an amp have ended, and ive managed to get a laney lc-30 for a bargain (used) as my first tube, and yes it sounds awsome (even better through the yamaha cabinet i get to borrow in band practice )

anyway, i thought i'd need an overdrive for classicish rock and bluesish kind of stuff...will the tubescreamer be my friend?

and antoher question...is there a difference in these?

any other pedal suggestions would be grand

Look into the Maxon versions and the TS808.

The TS7 isn't that good.

Yes. The TS9 is more true to the original, which is IMO a good thing.
I would suggest Maxon though, instead. Basically the same thing, but better (true bypass, better op-amp). The Fulltone Full-drive 2 is even more awesome, but also more expensive.

^ it costs like twice more

It is basically two tube screamers in one, though (one set for drive, the other for boost).

I've got the Ibanez TS-808 and love it, but I definitely hear great things about the Maxon versions.

Steer clear of the TS-7. It's really just not a good pedal.

People seem to like the Bad Monkey, which is pretty cheap.

Personally, I don't think it's wise to cheap out on pedals, especially one you'll probably use as often as an OD. The Ibanez TS-9 is certainly a decent stompbox, and about as cheap as I'd go. You can also look used. eBay's a great place to buy effects.
