hey, can somebody help me with some homework

write a recursive rule for the sequence
2, 8, 18, 32, 50,...

thanks in advance

My mind is going. I can feel it.

start with 2 and add 6 while adding 4 each time to the number you're adding on to the original number... that's not worded very well... you get it though, right?

im in alg 2 and we havnt even touched on a rule like that...good to know what to look forward to xD

EDIT: after a little googling (and installing Warcraft 3/Frozen Throne xD), i have found that we touched on that the little tiniest bit in alg 1, but i still have no clue...

8=2+6,
18=8+10,
32=18+14,
50=32+18,
72=50+22,

so it basically goes like this

a=2
b=6
c=a+b
a=c
b=b+4
c=a+b

and so on,

so you can use a "for", a "do while" or a "while", depends on what you want and in which language you are programming.

Edit: Oh shit I thought you meant algorithm, anyways just ignore the last part and you should be ok.

People come up with the dumbest names for sexual acts. And the most disgusting concepts for sexual acts.

I'm tempted to report this thread because of how weird this is getting.

IF you number each term, so you have:
term 1=2
term 2=8
term 3=32 etc.
then term n (the arbitrary nth term) = 2(n^2)

That's not recursive, even though it's a much better way of writing the series.

t=(t-1)+4

where t = term in question
and t-1 = the previous term
