ok so can anyone figure out what the up/down stroke for this riff, and the name of that chord and possibly a small diagram. i can't find the opening riff that can be seen in this video.

I would guess it is just a bar chord off of the A string(make sure you hit the octave of the root note, it really stands out in this recording) and the up and down strokes don't really matter it's just what feels good or is most economical
