hello. i tried using..a minor pen? personally, it doesnt sound too metal for me
maybe i am doing it wrong.
anyone know any other scales for metal music? thanks.
Diminished Dominant
Phrygian (good scale for harmonizing)
Hail Satan

Yamaha RGX220
Peavey 5150
Trohak Cabinet (w/ Eminence speakers)
Mesa/Boogie 2x12 Roadster
Marshall Mg15
If you're into more progressive type stuff, harmonic minor can really do the trick. Otherwise, I'd recommend more melodic minor and diminished. I don't use modes enough yet, so I have no idea how those sound yet.

Play Meshuggah. It is the solution.
2 words.. flattened 5th
i keep saying it over and over, but this turns every scale into a dark metal thingy, even major.. try the dominant ones ^^ (mixolydian phrigian dom. etc.)
1953 Epiphone zephyr
1988 PRS custom 24
1960 Moon oct. mandolin
Harmonic minor FTW!
Dave Mustain has wrote some of the most amazing solos...
That he can't actually play!
