i love playing metal and grindcore and all that but sometimes its nice to unwind on the ol' acoustic. most of the time i get discouraged because i dont know alot of acoustic stuff. if anyone could help me out with a good song to learn that would be awesome.

Good for you. Have a cookie.

But really... there's no cookie. And if there was, you wouldn't get one.

Plenty of classics Try some Melani Safka "It is the evening of the day", Beatles "Imagine"
Pink Floyd "Wish you were here" or blues Have you listened to any Eric Bibb, gaurantee you will want to play some of his stuff.

Something by oasis, wonderwall maybe. And like Dix Fix said, Wish you were here- pink floyd. Or you could go for something completley different and play an acoustic Tenacious D song, e.g. kickapoo or tribute.

Hey whats wrong with playing metal on accustic or even better classical.
I have a 40 year old Egmond Kansas S1 steel & i just put nylon on it. It sounds
FKN unreal. It is straight accustic. I also have a classical nylon with
a shadow pup system, AC/DC never sounded better (IMO).

Elvis Costello's Alison might interest you, because there is some nice lead work on it, and it's a classic song.

well if you're into rock... i don't think anyone has said foo fighters yet

but also, play the same stuff on your acoustic that you like to play on your electric
#16
stairway to heaven, (a classic) , simon & garfunkle "hello darkness my old friend" "sounds of silence". Oh get the tab for some clapton "classical gas" or "tears in heaven"
There is one song rocks on nylon "walk right in sit right down" (the rooftop singers) .et .al.
This song is easy to play but it gets you into the groove. Im with jimtaka play some of your electric on accustic. might need to fool around with delivery to get it to sound gr8 but thats half the fun , feeling like you OWN the song.

Mason Williams is probably the Classical Gas player you're thinking of... But the tabs mysteriously under Clapton's name...
#19
VoRzCeNt Your right i was thinking of Mason Williams, but i figured these days no one would know who the hell that is. The tab is under Mason Williams, also under Eric Clapton & Mark Knophler. so are the LimeWire MP3's , Go figure eh?
Mind you the Mason Williams version(MP3) isnt just guitar, as the clapton & knophler versions are. I have them all, if you are interested PM me.
