I'm buying a Crown Xti2000 to be the power amp in my new rig, and I was wondering what should I do for a preamp. I was looking at the BBE Sonic Maximizer(not a preamp) and it seems to liven tone a alot, do you think this used in conjunction with the preamp from my Boss GT6B processor would be enough tone wise(distorted and non)? Or should I just buy a preamp (considering tech 21 sansamp) or both? help? Thanks!

The Tech 21 RBP, I believe it is, should do what you want... it can blend a clean and a distorted tone pretty well.

Good enough for Geddy...

I'm actually a little short on cash so i just bought the xti2000 and a bbe sonic maximizer, the xti has a built in preamp and the bbe sonic maximizer is supposed to work good, i wont be able to try it out till tomorrow though

What exactly does a BBE Sonic Maximizer do?

I was looking at a used Warwick Vampyre LTD 5'er for about $200. I went home to grab my wallet and came back and some jerk with an epic beard got it already..

Yeah i tried it out at band practice today... it was awesome. Way more boom that the Fender Bassman 300 and it just sounded better also. The BBE sonic maximizer makes it though, it takes your tone makes everything louder and clear as a bell, I highly recommend the bbe 362 to any bass player looking for a cheap ($100) way to liven their tone.

You have a Bassman 300? The tube head? If so, man, how the hell is it?

^its a good head, very heavy but what can you expect from a tube head. Didn't quite have enough power to drive 4 cabinets though, plus I'm a much bigger fan of Solid State. I'm selling it if anyone is interested.

I've heard of people using the Line 6 POD as a preamp. Seems like that would be good idea.
