I'm trying to decide which of these two guitars I should get:

1) Schecter Demon
2) Jackson Dinky (twice the price of the Schecter)

My third (possible) option is the EMG MH-1000 w/ Seymour Duncans.

I need something that's quite versatile but mainly has an awesome heavy tone. My band plays a style quite similar to the Deftones and Norma Jean.

anyone got any thoughts?

I think you should go to a store and try them all out, maybe a few others as well, thats the only way youre going to find the guitar for you.

well the dinky out of those options, maybe check out a schecter in the same price range as the dinky as well though, at that kind of price range you cant really get a dud you just gotta get what feels right to you when you play it

Dinky... those are like the best guitars next to the Rhodes model... Though the ESP are really good guitars, but I'm for Jackson all the way...

Which Dinky is it? Jackson makes alot of Dinky Models. DK2, DK1, DK2M, DKMG, DXMG, no trem versions of the previous two, JS Dinkys, etc, etc.
1992 Ibanez S540 sol

Better than hooked on crack, I suppose. I'd rather know my kids are safe at home beating their meat than out in the world robbing old women for their crack fix.

That sir, is terrible advice. If you haven't even heard of Schecter, you are in no position to gauge their worth.

They probably won't be terribly different. Play them both, compare the specs, if it comes down to it, decide which one you like the look of better. Read reviews.

For a Schecter, you won't be shelling out as much cash simply for the name on the headstock. I've never played a Jackson, but I've heard them and they seem alright.

what's the point in being "philiosophical"?

Interesting question...

ive tried two schecters and i didnt particularly like them.
i really like jacksons but i wasn't too keen on the ESP i tried...

best thing to do is try them ALL and see which one you like best.
