Hello,
I am currently building a talkbox for myself. I was going to go something along the lines of the Heil Talkbox, but then I read up on the Banshee, and how it had its internal preamp and power amp so it could just be plugged between your guitar and amp instead of between your head and cab like the heil. I want to know how i can build the preamp and poweramp system thats inside it so i could make a Banshee. That would make everything so much easier. If you don't know what the one inside the Banshee is, can you point me towards another tiny preamp-poweramp system to use. I already have the horn driver and all the other jazz that i would need, but the amp thing confuses me... Please some help? Would be really appreciated.

DUDE!!!

I bought a Banshee a while back. They suck more dick than a cheap hooker. DON'T DO A BUILD REPLICATING IT!!!

the reason why they suck, IS because the internal pre-amp. It totally masks your tone. Experiment with it, but don't go in the complete direction of the Banshee. It is total shit.

Really?
The reason why I thought it might have been better with the internal amp is because its much easier to set up... The parts I'm using are nothing like the Banshee itself, but if it's the preamp that messes the tone, then...yea... I still am curious about the idea of having a talkbox with all the stuff inside so i wouldnt have to plug it between the head and cab...

yea it works great for a keyboard, even without a mic, but a guitar you need one. If you want to make one like one step better than that all you need is like a 30-40 watt horn driver, very cheap. all you do is attatch the tube to the whole in it, and hook it up as the speaker to your amp. But for all intents and purposes my ghetto one works fine, just trouble sound-proofing it, gonna cover it in old carpet soon.

you should look at my thread and make one from a computor speaker, it is much easier, cheaper sounds better than the rocktron and is pure briliance
Talk boxes, great fun but so damn expensive and hard to use, right? Wrong!

Combining the Rockton talk box and the heil talk box I have come up with the ultimate talker. It uses the pre amp from your chosen amp to give your talk box any tone you have in your amp, but it also means that you don’t have excessive power being fed in to your mouth, like you would if you used a 50 watt head for example, so it is perfectly safe as well as great tone. It also gives you the opportunity to use the talk box on a clean sound (which no other talk box has done before)

First gather the components, make a small power amp (under five watts is best) and put together the power amp, this is the most vital part in this build. For info on building a power amp go to

http://www.ssguitar.com/

Alternatively, if your poor grab your self a computer speaker and keep the power amp section from that, this is also a good place to get your speaker from. Keep the wiring in tact. Now get your self a switch (DPDT) and two input jacks, using the wiring diagram I will provide shortly wire up your electronics.

Once this has been completed, take the electronics and put them in a suitable enclosure, one that can hold your weight as well as one big enough to hold the components, have the speaker facing upwards and attach it into place, drill a hole big enough to fit the tube/pipe in but so it has a tight fit, seal up the container and attach jacks in appropriate places. Once every thing is in firmly and the area around the pipe it air tight, your ready to rock.

This thread maybe slightly vague so id suggest looking around for similar builds.

Some good ones are:

This build shouldn’t cost you too much, if you use a computer speaker as opposed to building your own power amp (as others have done) it will be a fraction of the price, but being a tone freak I decided that building my own would be best, however I will not post how I did that here.

And here's a cheap horn driver, but i prefer speakers, if you can find a small speaker of good quality then you’ll get an even better tone, but a cheap computer speaker will do and in fact will probably be just as good.

it can be used with out effects loop however it wont sound the same though

its not a pre amp i use my amps pre amp(that’s why its in the loop)

Listen to bon jovi - living on a prayer and it’s my life
and peter Frampton - do you feel like we do

you will need a microphone and put it in the microphone in put section and you will need a tube to go to your mouth, as well as a mike stand to hold it all togther, I suugesst using an instrument mike for this however any mike will do.
