when i play a power chord like
e|--------
B|--------
G|---5---
D|---5---
A|---3---
E|--------

i always hit the sixth string so it sounds like
e|-------
B|-------
G|---5---
D|---5---
A|---3--
E|---0---

Can you give me some tips or I just keep playing and that little problem is gonna go away

Presuming you are using your first finger to play the C (A string 3rd Fret). Use the tip of that finger to mute the low E.

Either that or don't hit it at all as crzywhiteboy said. How do get on when playing an open A chord?

i dont hit the string on purpose

i use my thumb to mute it, like when doing rake picking on just one note but it males a cooler sound
Now officially has too much gear to list

PM me if you want to know about my recording setup

Just get used to not doing it. Make sure you have the pick below your E string before you strum.

yeah try putting but not pressing a free finger on the e string to mute it.

You can mute it, or do what I did. Play the power chord over and over.. without hitting the E string. It's easy to do it slowly, so start slowly.

^^About as straightforward as it gets, but otherwise just work on not hitting it. You'll come around....eventually.
