not your favorite band!

who do you think is the most talented band in modern rock or just modern music in general?

by talented, I mean in songwriting, creativity, and partially in technical skill too I guess.

My vote would be for Radiohead

im hoping we can use local bands because if we can, my friends band affliction, they write some really interesting stuff

rhcp, deep purple, metallica(except for lars), SOAD. and even though their not really creative in terms of lyrics and originality and arent really modern rock, cannibal corpse are amazing musicians
#13
mmm, I believe Placebo are very talented and inovative in music and really like their music a lot, but of course I also like Tool, mmmm, yeah, I think Tool is the most talented band in modern rock

You don't get how people can hate Radiohead? Maybe because there music is pretty boring. and by boring i mean slow.

in that respect Steven Wilson > Trent Reznor.

at the moment? id say dream theater is probably the most talented band out there.. every member of the band is a virtuoso at their instrument.

but just remember talent doesn't mean creativity or musical depth is in the music..

that said, DT have talent beyond simply playing their instruments. a lot of their songs are fairly complex, as well as technical.

RHCP, Muse, and Rush.

Although I don't know if Rush can be counted as a Modern Rock band.

In all honesty, the only band I actually enjoy that was formed after the downloading age is the Mars Volta. And they're all members of bands that were good in earlier ages, like Racer X, ATDI, and Sublime (Ikey played with them on occasion), I think they're more creative than any other band, and brought real composing back into their music, Omar writes almost everything, even that horn parts. And he and Cedric just have really spacey, cool themes to their albums. I prefer to listen to them more than anyone else. Oh, I say the downloading age, because I blame downloading for the lack of quality in music these days.

as big of a primus fan I am, larry lalonde is a mediocer guitarist at worst! He is pretty good but they arent the most talented band on earth

My list
Tool *a band playing music as a whole not ****ing insane guitar solos and no bass*
Mars Volta * One of the most expieremental rock groups strecthcing the limits of rock*
Incubus *another amazingly talented group*
NIN *hmmm what is an instrument reznor cant play?*
Porcupine tree *such great music that takes a hella lot of talent*
