I'm using this (http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Library/1355/beginners.html) guide to build my first pedal (distortion) and I was wondering what it means by "hook-up wire" under the general hardware section. Would this (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062642&cp=&sr=1&origkw=Hook-Up+Wire&kw=hook-up+wire&parentPage=search) work?

Sorry, I'm only 15 and bit ADD when it comes to all this electronic part stuff. However, I do understand everything on this guide otherwise and I just don't want to screw anything up early on.

Noob question or not, clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

no...that's for wrapping magnets, etc. The stuff you want is a little thicker, in the 18-22 gauge range.

They have that in both single core and stranded (at least my radio shack does). in my book, doesn't really matter which type you use. If you use solid core, it'll stay in whatever shape you bend it, which is nice for getting the insides organized. However, some holes on switches, etc, are too small, and the solid core won't fit. W/ single strand, you can just clip a few of the strands out, and it'll fit. I recommend buying one or more of each (they come in packs of 3 different colors), and see what you like. I use both, depending on what it's being used for.

I think you confused yourself with the different types there, I corrected your post though in the quote. Multi-strand is a lot better for smaller stuff as it won't kink and break as easily.
