That video dominates! I imagine if I were to install active pickups, I would just have to change the potentiomewters as well, and thats it?

As long as the end result is 25k pots, you'll be good. In other words, if you're replacing actives with actives, you'll be good. If you're replacing passives with actives, then you need to replace the pots as well as the output jack.
