What type of pickups do you prefer for cleans? Humbuckers, Single Coils, P-90's, or other types if there is other types?

For me its humbuckers. They just sound "fuller" to me. Singles sound dry and thin to me. Just a matter of opinion I guess.

I love the tone of single coils on cleans...but sometimes I prefer the neck position of a humbucker much more at times.

I dunno how you can rate humbuckers over singles for cleans.

If you did, I must question if you've ever picked up a Strat and a Fender amp?
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

I guess some people have a different definition of clean sounds from an electric guitar. Some might think that it's the acoustic sounds others might think that it's so long that the guitar isn't distorted. But I will have to say that I like the clean sounds from a humbucker in bridge position, like on an LP, sounds so "liquid" and sweet, just listen to songs like 'sweet child o mine' during the clean parts!

an emg 81 works best for me. lol no but i really do like the sound of the 60. like said already, it sounds fuller to me than a singlecoil.

It depends on song to song. I love the sound of both single coil and humbuckers clean. If it's a bluesy or sharp clean sound then single's, if I want a deeper more atmospheric clean (ala Radiohead) then humbuckers.

Well, sometimes I prefer warmth over twang. They both sound incredibly good though.

I just like the pickup to be around 8k with alnico 5 magnets. Low output humbuckers are good and so are overwound single coil pickups. If it is a single coil pickup I like the magnets to be degaussed a little to take some of the sharpness off.
Not taking any online orders.

I used to prefer strat style single coils but I really like a P-90 in the neck now, it sounds a lot sweeter to my ears without the muddiness of humbuckers. I still like sound of single coils in the bridge though.

It really depends on the situation. Single-coils for funk all the way, but I like the really rich tone you get from both humbuckers on a Les Paul. I think I'd actually like the best of both worlds in a P-90. Plenty of chime, but still warm and rich.
