anything from fender or gibson is good no matter what pretty much. EMG is pretty great in my opinion. it really all depends on whether its a single or a humbucking pickup you want and what sound you're looking for

just so you know, EMG's are high-output. theyre definetly versatile but theyre really meant for shit like heavy rock and metal

for metal dimebuckers are great
and emg 81s for bridge and 85s for the neck are a great combination zack wylde uses that.
if your more blues/ blues rock then pearly gates are great.
theyre the original les paul pickups i think.
but we really cant help much if you dont tell us your style or guitar.

dimebuckers are bad. they have too much treble. Dime used the Bill Lawrence L500XL pickup, which IS good for metal.

Man, there is so much crap being said in this thread!!!

1. Not all Gibson or Fender pickups are good!
2. Dimebuckers suck, sorry!
3. It's Zakk Wylde.
4. You can't suggest pickups without other information like genre and guitar.

Anyway...

If you want active, go with EMG 81/85 or you could look at Bill Lawrence L500XL like woodenbandman said. You could also look at a DiMarzio Tone Zone to put in your bridge. If you go with the EMG idea, you'd have to save up more for a whole set. $100 is gonna get you one pickup.

i meant each..
is the zakk wylde emgs anygood?
a buddy of mine said theyre just 81s and 85s
and cost more cause they some in a set.

Get the Kerry King EMG set, only a bit more, comes with a 20db booster for really overdriven/distorted metal sounds

I've heard good things about the Dimarzio D-activator...they'd be a decent pickup for your bridge ....for your neck position it really depends on what kind of tone your looking for in terms of cleans and stuff.

I find it hard to choose good pickups for an upgrade because you cant always just walk into a store and test them out...or see how ther'd perform on your guitar
