Hi guys,

Happy St. Patrick's Day first off

Secondly, as today is my birthday, I received a good bit of cash, and am wondering what amps I should look out for?

I have heard good things about the Vox30DT or something similar?

Budget: $400-450

Style: Alternative/Rock/Blues (Nirvana, Hendrix, Guns N' Roses, Allman Brothers, Alice Cooper, Audioslave)

Current Guitar: MIM Stratocaster, SSS.

What I'm wondering are, what kinds of effects and amps would be good besides the Vox? Is there a good Marshall or Fender in my range?

I have an Ibanez Weeping Demon pedal that a friend gave me, but I haven't used it yet as I'm still tracking down another cable to use it.

Also if it really matters, I'm still new to the guitar. I pretty much play scales and try to improvise, but also play tabs like Layla, Jessica and others =)

Any help would be fantastic!

I think the vox would be good for your style. If you really want something that will last you a long time, save up a bit and get a Marshall JCM900, it would suit your styles fairly well and is all tube. If you need an amp right now, definately go for the vox, they're great amps, I have one and I love it, can play anything you want it to

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.
