right, so, i got this question,

= |0 1 0 |

Let A = |0 0 1 |

= |0 0 0 |

Determine the dimension of the subspace

V={B E M3x3 ® :BA=AB}

and i got the answer as this

|0 1 0| |0 0 1|

|0 0 1|, |0 0 0|

|0 0 0| |0 0 0|

But the answer was supposed to be this, but plus extra one matrix, which is

|1 0 0|

|0 1 0|

|0 0 1|

how do i get to that ?

it's sunday, and i can't possibly ask my lecturer today, so, yeah... =)

isn't that the identity matrix? *shrugs* i did this in precalculus a long time ago, and i'm not doing linear algebra for another semester or two...but i'll give it a shot.

i guess it's just weird without the special symbols, but is:

V={B E M3x3 ® :BA=AB}

supposed to be interpreted as the set V when B is the element of a 3 by 3 matrix and V has region/range(?) of BA=AB? so then, isn't this problem just definition recollection? the answer is the identity matrix, because the matrix produced IF it is possible that AB=BA is the identity matrix. or something like that

in the end, after looking back about five or six times, i went for lunch, and when i came back i realized that i did some mistake on it, so, in the end i got it solved myself =)

btw, the question wasn't complete, so actually, it needs an extra parameters,
