Who do you feel did the best performance of it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH83G9WKmfg

Personally I think this is just an amazing performance.
I've been looking forever for a good one, and none of them really grabbed me.

If your favorite performance was done by the search button, can you please link me to it?
I looked but couldnt find it, only links to Jimi Hendrix's performance...which I think is good, but definately not my favorite.

Im sorry, but in my opinion Jimi's really was the best. Whenever someone actually sings the star-spangled banner, I turn it off, cause I really hate the lyrics. Thats why Jimi's was the best. No singing.

I agree, the lyrics are... not great in any sence, I think.

But I think even if you're doing just the best guitar versions, I would have to say Jimi's is not the best.

I love the music, pure and simple.
So all the little fancy things he did I think ruin it for me.

Singing:

^^ No doubt in my mind. Unbelievable voice.

Guitar:

^^ No crazy shredding, no weird sounds, no wasting time, he got straight to the point. That's what I love about it.

I'm not a huge fan of Whitney's performance.
I dont like how she lost some of her strength for some of the high notes.

That version by Joe is amazing though.
Very true to the music, very clear.
I love it ^.^

Yeah, Carl Lewis is lucky he is a great athlete and represented the United States very well in the Olympics, or it would have been a lot worse for him.

I don't even want to talk about Rosanne. That was trash. She deserved much worse than just a booing.

Wasn't Jimi's version to some extent a protest of sorts? BTW, I'm all patriotic and stuff, but I don't find the star spangled banner very all that catchy without the psychedelic effects. That's not to say I don't find parts of Jimi's version abrasive.

DUDE

I love the Marvin Gaye one.
I've never heard that before.
Its very different, I really like it.

As for the Zakk Wylde one, the Vai one... I think they're a bit overdone.

I absolutely HATE Fantasia.
>.<
She pisses me off so much.
I hate her voice, she's hideous..... >.<

Now can anyone prove this for me.
The music was originally an english drinking song?

I've heard this but cant find proof anywhere of it.

Yeah, that is exactly what is great about it. Not only did he sing very well, but he didn't try to do it the normal way. He didn't just take the song and sing the words to it. Like the guy at the beginning of it said, he was being Marvin. That is why I love that performance. Oh, and he sang it fantastically.
