I need a descent Wah petul. Yess!!!
Mkkk i dont have money restrictions (i sure hope there isnt wahs over 500$ )
I need something that is versitile. and no ****ing crybabies because those suck balls.
I need something that fits anything from hendrix to audioslave. Any suggestions? I wouldnt mind buying something shitty and modding it if you guys know of anything. Ebay is an option

Look into a Vox. The V847a or the Clyde McCoy (V848), they should do Hendrix very well.

The crybabys are great, in fact, awesome after you make some simple and cheap mods.

mods such as? i am quite a n00b to modding shit, but skilled at soldering iron (just kidding, but its far from challenging)

A vintage Crybaby. I have 2, they sound pretty good, esp. With distortion(to my ears). Just don't overload your distortion on your amp or you get the Fret Of Death, as I call it, when 5 different frets produce the same frequency of sound.

Look at these sites for mods,

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.castledine/greenfuz/wah.html
http://www.diyguitarist.com/DIYStompboxes/WahMod.htm
http://www.stinkfoot.se/andreas/diy/mods/dunlop.htm

The mid range boost really helped mine out. I also modded it for true bypass and the vocal mod. Sounds much better than stock now.

This was my first time modding anything and really it was quite simple.

lol, fret of death...nice.
i was auctually contemplating getting a crybaby...but idk if i can bring myself to get another....
#12
I have the V847 and can't say enough good things about it. I tried it next to a Dunlop Crybaby and thought the tone was far superior. The Vox has a wider sweep and an overall clearer sound. I've not played a V848, but I listened to the sound clips on the Vox website, and it's a little more 'quacky' than the 847.

So, V847 is the way to go, to my ears.
Can't stop the signal.

I wish I had my 848 I just bought it and it has not got here yet. I don't think you can really tell from the mp3 sound bites what it is actually going to sound like, you should try it first. And like Paul Gilbert say's if you can try it out at full volume next to some drummer the better. If you want something a little different try the Budda..I dont think you can go wrong though with the 847A (true bypass) or the 848

Well Tom Morello does use a Crybaby.

ibanez weeping demon

i have one, when i place it before my distortion, i can get a perfect like a stone solo tone

when i place it after, i get a totally different, crybaby sorta sound...and i don't even have to mess with the settings! the weeping demon is the most versatile wah

actually, there are wahs over $500. the crybaby rack wah, but it's worth every penny.

why does the crybaby suck ? slash , jimi and kirk don't seem to have any issues using one ?!
#25
I don't mind the sound or anything, It's just that they aren't very hard wearing, my plastic cased Behringer wah is so much stronger imo.

the one jimi used was basically a vox.

and for the other two, have you seen pics of them using it onstage? chances are they actually use the rack one.

he does
but his is an old 80's crybaby
no comparison between that one and the ones of today

i found them to be quite similar in sweep
the v847 is just way better for vintage stuff because the dimebag was built to handle distortion better
the dime wah actually is the only dunlop i'd recommend as a wah
but only for people that want to play their wah with distortion almost, or all the time
otherwise
for vintage wah sounds...the v847 is the way to go

Whodicted

Sorry about the spelling earlier, it was on purpose. I honestly don't think that someone can really spell like that...but anyways. Looks like I will probably end up getting a vox.
Anyone know a descent distortion pedal that can do classic rock descent?
#32
the crybabies are not bad at all. the only thing they could use is some thicker mids, and a more consistant volume through out the sweep.

Fulltone, Teese, Budda, something high end if you've got quite a bit to spend.

I hear the sweep on the fulltone wah isn't as low-end and high end as the vox wahs...but shows offf better tone.
