Do you reckon it is possible to rip out a guitar input jack and route it out and wire it to fit a microphone XLR cable? Cause that'd be pretty cool to have because:
a) it won't get acidentally pulled out, because they clip in.
b) the damn year 8's and other kids at my school won't be able to borrow my guitar and play it!

Just an idea... I'm no electronics wiz so this could sound absurd

Gibson done this with there LP HEX-6 or whatever it's called didn't they?
I'm not to sure if thats right,

But it can be done.

Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

The disadvantage is if you accidentially stand on the cable and pull it, you may rip the whole output jack out and damage your guitar.
Dave Mustain has wrote some of the most amazing solos...
That he can't actually play!

yeah it can be done, and you can get XLR-1/4" jack plugs as well.

fkn year 8's...

you can do it...but whats the point?

you can get a locking 1/4 input jack for your guitar. And i say stop carrying your guitar and an amp and a cable around with you to school, even if you can't help it, im pretty sure the grade 8'ers will just mess with it unplugged anyway,

It would be really easy. Just ignore one of the pins.
Not taking any online orders.

yeah, godin has that i think.
Heads up to everyone, new person using this account

actually, godin has piezo on a lot of their guitars.

but yeah, get a XLR to 1/4" cable and you'd have a great idea.

Cheap amps are "that bad". They suck up your tone like cocaine at Kate Moss' party.

@Kingyem0c0re

gibson's hex-6 connection is actually an 8-pin connector, much like a CAT-5 (ethernet) cable. The clip-on feature of it is just a custom sleeve they built around the cat-5 in order to protect it from pulling around and stuff while playing.

Ah my mistake then, like I said, I wasn't to sure,
I've never read into detail about the thing itself.

I suppose..... but how cool would it be!
I reckon I might put it in a guitar project that I have in mind for the future... basically just gonna be an extremely messed up thing that makes (hopefully) cool noises and looks cool (not exactly going to be a "guitar")
