I wasnt aware there were GREAT Emo bands, let alone 10 Great Emo bands.
I won't knock Emo, because music can't be wrong if you feel what you play...except for boy bands, they just feel each other........what?

I thought the same thing when I red the topic.

Cool Kurt Cobain avatar.

I would make a list, but no doubt people would come in going "they're not real emo, they're post-hardcore-pop-punk-crust-grind-screamo-punk".

I do like your list though.

Yeah but I think that was because he was stating the list, rather than asking for other people's favourites as well.

At least I think so...

Well, I hate these kind of threads, but usually we (mods) close them straight away, and it's been a long time since one has been left open.
Also, wanted to send out a few warnings and probably if I closed it I wouldn't have.

The majority of that list is questionable as well if you're going around questioning JEW.

Christie Front Drive
Texas is the Reason
City of Caterpillar
Hal Al Shedad
Empire State Games
Friction
Braid
Amanda Woodward
Moss Icon
Swing Kids

I feel there are some really obvious ones missing from that list (Cap'n Jazz for one), just can't think. Wouldn't put them quite in that order either.

Sunny Day Real Estate is where it's at. Number 1 in my boook tilll FOREVER.

No offense, but this thread is rather pointless. People who state a list are only going to be knocked down cause they don't know what "real emo" is, or people are gonna state bands that mainstream kids don't know and therefore can't argue against cause they think emo started when Taking Back Sunday released Tell All Your Friends.

Which, by the way, is an insanely good album IMO.

EDIT:

If I were to make a list, it'd go:

Brand New
Weezer (circa 1996)
Sunny Day Real Estate
Something Corporate
Saves The Day (around 1998 - 2002)
Jimmy Eat World
American Football (I love the guitarist's style to death)
Cursive
Bright Eyes (even though I feel Conor is pretty arrogant and stuck up)
Straylight Run

It was hard to leave off The Get Up Kids but ya know, this is my top 10 list and I think the other bands on mine bring more to the table then they do, respectively.

Why'd you hate them?

I guess they don't really have much of a purpose, but at least they introduce people to some new bands maybe?
