I am doing my first build it is going to be a bass then my brother is doing a guitar that will look the ezact same or as close as possibel seeing mine is a bass and his is a guitar. Now a few ideas i need what kind of wood should i use and where is the best place to get blanks? Next what kind of pickups should we use.

Well, for bodies, you want to use a hardwood. Mahogany is a popular hardwood as is maple. You'd have to look at a local lumber will for a rough cut of the wood of your choosing. Then have it planed and it should be ready for cutting (least knots the better!)

As for pickups, it all depends on the music you play, as the varieties of pickups are very large.

OK so i know maple or mahogany now I want like a hard rock sound so I was wondering what is good for pickups and i am putting a tremolo on it i am happy about that

Umm, humbucking pickups are what you'll be looking for in an electric. I'm not a bass guitarist so I don't know what to suggest for a bass. Gibson pickups are good for hard rock sound, and I think Seymour Duncans are good for similar sound, but cleaner (jazz pickup?) but I know that in my Gibson I have the original factory ones and they sound beautiful (humbuckers).
