I'm pretty set on buying a Yamaha RBX-374 as my first bass.. but what amp should I get to go with it?

Price limit would be £150 ($280US)

I need something that's quite versatile with a decent tone. It's just for recording purposes

I'm pretty sure you could get an Ashdown Electric Blue for that price, amazing amp. Especially for the price. But make sure you try anything out first.

Get a crate, the're cheap, good sounding, and durable.

I'm an Ashdown fan myself - Peavey makes great amps in that price range too. I hate Crate - the tone controls are weak and the distortion and octave effects sound crappy.

Good choice on the Yamaha by the way - they've got really playable necks.

i've just had a look at a few reviews for the electric blue 12-180 and it seems excellent.. exactly what I need! Plus they're only £150 too!

I think i'll give one a try..
