Im considering modding a telecaster, and making a guitar a bit more suited for metal out of it, because i love the shape of the guitars and was wondering:

Do telecasters have normal single coil pickups, or special tele-style one?

thanks in advance guys

I'll probably be using a Squier, just to keep the cost down a bit

I was also wondering, do Squier teles tend to be bolt on necks or not?

Telecasters rule.

Metal rules.

Good idea, my friend.

You can actually buy a Standard Telecaster on musiciansfriend.com for $400.

fender makes a telecaster with a mahogany body, dual humbuckers and a set neck. Its pretty badass.

Otherwise, if youre gonna go with a squier, they are bolted on necks.

John5 Uses a telecaster thats been modified, try googling his guitar.

i haven't heard of a tele witout a bolt-on

you can use any pickup with the tele, but you have to modify the body so the pickups fit

the problem with teles is the maple or alder body, too bright for metal
