Hello! I want to build a fuzz pedal, something like a Fuzz face. I have found LOTS of schematics for this one, but I don't know wich one to use. Could someone who knows show me a schematic that is simple, and uses silicon transistors? And please, don't just post a link to www.runoffgroove.com or something like that, I would really appreciate if you were more specific.
If anyone here has build something like a fuzz face, please tell me if it was easy/hard/fun/worth it.

Thanks a lot!
I have no idea what I'm talking about. Don't belive me.

Thanks, now I just to find a DPDT-footswitch that won't kill me wallet. It's amazing that all other components are nice and cheap, while the switch costs around 20 $.

the switch only costs like $5 from small bear.

and do the bazz fuss, so easy.

Cheap amps are "that bad". They suck up your tone like cocaine at Kate Moss' party.

a 3pdt switch might cost you $10... max (i've seen them for around $6-$10) DPDT's usually cost around... $3-$4 or so USD.

Are you sure you're looking at a switch, and not a footswitch for amps with switching?

BTW, i was bored and made some graphs. Here's what a fuzz does to an (otherwise) clean signal. I used a simple sinusoid, since it was alot easier to simulate. Green is input, red is output, except for the first graph where I accidentally switched the colors.

that should be put in the GG&A FAQ.

Yeah I know there are switches that are cheap, but the companys that sells them don't ship to sweden. And even if they would, I wouldn't buy from them since the cost for shipping would go up the roof.

And for tubaboy, this is a build thread.

i realized that. i've been here over a year.

and i was referring to the graphs, it's cool.

does greenbox have an oscilloscope? i have 2, they are fun. i made a tuner out of one and a frequency generator.

You don't argue with tubadude on Washburn-related matters, he flosses with the G string from a set of 0.12's y'know....and it's WOUND!

oh, no, those were just simulations. I haven't had the need to buy oscilloscopes, since I have access to them (and some other cool equipment) in my circuits lab.

The graphs roughly show how the signal is distorted. Notice how it's more pronounced for low frequencies (as I'm sure most of you've noticed, when messing around with a real fuzz). There are some subtle differences for high/low intensity of the fuzz for higher frequencies, but the fuzz (or gain or whatever you call it), is definitely more pronounced in the bass notes.

switches are like AU$6 from jaycar here.. but ive had 3! of them die on me. i dunno if they are crappy switches of if its just me
