The majority here feels tubes are superior to SS. But how many of us actually play through a tube amp and not SS? Let's see if tube is actually the majority.

ps. sorry if this has been done before, the search button didnt find any.

I use SS/modeling. I'd like to have a tube amp, but I wouldn't trust myself to take care of one.

Seeing how many people use SS and how many people use tube won't prove which is one is superior.

That's really all there is to it.

so far, more are playing SS than tube. very interesting

Keep in mind, this site is used by mainly teenagers, which probably don't have jobs or are paying other things such as insurance for cars, so they can't afford tube amps. That's why the leading selection is "I would like to bu don't have the cash".

But that's just what I think.

I know, but the fact that the majority here does not have a tube amp might make some SS people feel slightly better lol. People dig being a majority

Yeah, that's exactly it. It always makes me laugh when people say it's not fair that they can't afford valve amps...like they just fell on our laps...not from much of a height though, the things weighs a bloody tonne...it'd crush my legs

Yea. I must have spent 4 months at least saving for my JSX. I even got a job to hurry it up. I left the store with the JSX and a Weeping Demon $1956 short, and since I didn't have that much at the time, I owed my parents $600. Even though I payed them off in like, 2 weeks.

But still. It's not like we got 'em for free.

Also, yea, they do weigh a ton. My combo is 85 pounds. It's super fun carrying to practice.

I play a solid state, but when I get some cash I'm getting a Tiny Terror (if I can get the sound I want) so I have an amp that can over power my computer speakers.
#31
i have (IMO) the most amazing SS amp ever.its an ooooooold Dallas Arbiter Slider amp and i swear it captures my ideal tone perfectly.its not loud enough for gigging but i turn the volume up to the max and i swear it has an amazing breakup response.

also i have a tube amp.its a 1969 Teisco Checkmate 15.i have never played it cos the speaker was dead when i got it.iv had it serviced so all i need now is a new speaker and im good to go.

hence im undecided on this poll.

Yeah, Bandits are great amps for the price. But, I only use my Traynor YCV80 2x12 tube amp. It destroys all on distortion and makes you cry on clean.

If you can take out a battery, you can change a tube.

You can't turn it on and off? There are 900 guides out there, and only like 3-4 rules you need to follow.

As for me, tubage:
The gang is small, and not the best amps, but I spent forever picking each one out, and I got the best bang for my buck imo.
