Ive got a Les Paul copy and whenever I try to get the neck of the guitar at a 45 degree angle when im sitting it just slides off my thigh. Im wondering if the Gibsons are the same or not.

Also, does anyone practice standing?

if u practice sitting, u'll end up having ur guitar sooooo high,

um. . .

Why would you want the guitar at a steep angle while you were sitting? That's just dumb. Hold it so it's pretty much parallel to the floor.

i always sat down while playing till like 2 years ago when my friend said u cant be sitting down and playing guitar @ gigs.

he was obviously right and i never thought of that. I immedately practiced standing up. I play standing up 95% of the time unless its acoustic then i always play sitting down. hell i play worse when i sit down then when i play standing up.

if you're good as them no.
but what if a guy that plays it mediocre and he just has his head over the fretboard and u can't see anyhting or his facial expression???
at least morello or petrucci has some emotion in playing.
not like those people on youtube that just sits on their bed playing guitar with their head over the guitar neck.

Play in a classical position:

You get the best reach that way. It takes a bit of adjustment, but it's the most similar to standing. Also, when standing and playing, have the guitar at the same level as when you play sitting. This will keep your playing at its most efficient.
