Hammer on harder. And for pull offs dont just pull your finger straight off the string. Kinda flick it to the side. That way the string rings out more clearly. Hope this helps

You can't really get a nice thick ho-po until your fingers are noticably calloused, which causes a more harsh attack on the string.
