I'm in need of a nice chorus pedal. Price doesn't matter. I just need suggestions on a chorus pedal that would play classic rock NICELY, not something that does this one certain song by someone good. True bypass prefered!
#2
I've got the Electro Harmonix Small Clone, and It's cheap ($80), and very easy to understand, and gives a great tone that is in my opinion superior to all other choruses. Some people like it because Cobain used it, but believe me when I say it is useful for playing more than that, I use it for metallica, Some Hendrix stuff, blues, and basically any place where my tone could use a little sweetness.

The boss choruses like the CH-1 are pretty good, and they have and EQ... But yeah, the small clone is better i think.

its a pedal that kinda adds more...coolness too it. I was personally looking at a boss ce-20. I'll have to try it out at guitar center though
#8
^make it true bypass...

otherwise there will always be a (small) tone-loss

anyway...go for the small clone
great pedal

and to renegadeo6o6

a chorus pedal essentially makes your guitar sound like its two guitars playing the same thing at the same time
those two guitars wont sound exactly the same though theyre playing the same thing...
it kinda adds a little diversity to your tone

What is does to your signal is it takes the sgnal, duplicateds it and slow the copied signal down by a constantly changing amount, sweeping forward and backward like a sine wave. What it does to your sound is it makes it sound like there is more than one of you playing, and adds a lot of lushiousness (I have no idea how to spell that word) to your singal. Listen to Smells like teen spirit and Come as you are by nirvana to get an idea of what the small clone can do. I hate to constantly say to listen to Nirvana for what a chorus sounds like, but while the small clone can do a lot more, it was made famous by Cobain.

Well, it makes a small fluctuation in the note so not REALLY a twin guitar sound. You can achieve that with delay?

well it actually is

try playing the same riff with a friend simultaneously
it wont sound all the same

so it does sound like 2 guitars playing at the same time

a delay makes it sound like 2 guitars playing the same thing...but not at the same time

The Electro Harmonix Small Clone is a great pedal for the price (80 bucks) but if you say price is not an issue I'd recommend the MXR M-134 Stereo Chorus pedal. I was originally going to get this but it comes with a hefty price tag.

chours is cool for metal. Use a slow, droning moderately wide chorus to make your metal playing sound heavier

A Uni-vibe copy of some kind.

And a chorus duplicates the signal, and slightly detunes the copied signal.

No. A high-quality buffer (that is, higher quality than Boss) will almost be better than true-bypass.
#32
Yes, the MXR does carry a high price tag. I guess I do kinda have money restrictions if I still plan on buying that telecaster ive been waiting for though, haha. I still cant make up my mind between the freakin ce-20 (boss) and the MXR. Does anyone know if the MXR is bypass?
edit: wtf? ac 18 volt adapter? jesus christ what kind of bullshit is that! spend 200 dollars on equipment for the damn thing
