hey, im planning to sell my wah, simply because i need money and i cant find use for it.

but then a question ariesed in my head...how do i use it anyway? i know rocking my foot back and forth making thta 'wwwAAAaaaah...' but is there any other function other then the 'waaaaaAAAAAh'? if not, the pedal seems kinda pointless.
#2
you can keep it in one position to boost either treble or bass.

Use it as a filter/boost.

Or learn to use it better.

Or mids.

Listen to 'Money for Nothing' for an example.

My favorite thing to do with a wah is to play a doublestop bend with some overdrive, and slowly open the wah while you bend it. Awesome.
#5
^ yeah, well, i've never really had the cahnce to use it it was always there...untouched

but is it that vital? i was thinking of spendin the money i get from this for a big muff and a boss blues driver/o.d pedal (i dont have a dist or o.d pedal at this very moment, since my POS boss md-2 broke down.)

My favourite wahing thing is playing the outro to Rainy Day, Dream Away.

I'd keep the wah, but that's just me.

You can also gently sweep the wah when strumming a chord and adding some sparkle like sound when playing and leaving it on.

*high fives R_H_C_P for his taste in wahing*

By the way, what model is it?

it's the dunlop cry baby....i think it's the cheapest of the dunlop.

i dont know...a blues driver/bad monkey and a big muff seem so much more useful to me (but thats coz i never (hardly) used the wah...)

and i really need those pedals above
#11
Dude there is always need for a wah no matter what type of music you play. And if I read correctly you were thinking about getting Boss Blues Driver, so I assume you play blues-rock, classic-rock, blues, blah blah blah...In that case you definitelly should keep the wah. I'm actually confused on what type of stuff you are playing where you don't use the way. Unless you're just really into a natural tone, then rock on.
#12
^ i play bluesy rock/classic rock sounding/cleanish/mild overdrive/distortion rock
#13
Actually i'd sell the crybaby wah, but only to save a bit more and get the Vox wah. Get one of those and you'll never want to get rid of it.

Also the Vox is great for your style IMHO.

Speaking as a Vox owner, it is. I love mine.

But really, it's hard for me to think of a way that I wouldn't use my wah. I find it's my favorite effect, the only one I really need.
#15
^ so when i rock it, i only rock it a LITTLE bit, here and there?

i might wanna try that...

and that vox...damn, they havent got those around here
#16
As with most effects the subtle uses (barely rocking the pedal or leaving it in one position as a tone filter) seem to be the best sounding. The useful travel range of the wah pedal for expressiveness is only about 1/3 of its travel.
#17
hey guys, i think you've convinced me. i used it on one of my blues licks, and it really did help punch out some of the key notes...great!!

thanks to all of you for guiding me to use my wah the way it's supposed to be used

=)

I would sell the Crybay and get the Vox wah. I never used my Crybaby because it sounded like shit and now with my Vox, I feel like Kirk Hammet, cause every solo I do, I step on the wah. haha

You say you play classic rock and blues? A wah is a must man.

Yeah...

I'm doing the same with my crybaby from hell. Honestly, it's great for hardxcore distortion and all...but I just don't like the fact that it's not true bypass, it sucks A LOT of tone out of my amps.

I'm planning on buying a vox 847a or something.

^Yeah, I have the same problem with my Vox (great tone, no true bypass). When I get off my butt, I'll mod it up. Just a matter of finding all the parts and stuff.
#22
^ thats one reason i hated turining it on. kills all tone.

anyone know where i can get a vox wah in europe?

EDIT: Hankey, i hsould know you in real life, you give me too many ideas

Ah, wah wah's! ROFL!

I don't think I use my wah properly...everytime I try to use it one the fast run on Sweet Child O' Mine, it sounds real crappy...nothing like a wah...

Makes me quite sad...

^Spend weeks on end playing it, you'll get the grasp of it then.

I love wahing, but if only I could have more sounds of of my wah, more of a Hendrixy sound.

I think he's using a vox wah...

It said in the description that he used a crybaby and a vox together and rocked them up.
