So, I had the urge for a new project. I took an American Strat body I had laying around and painted it 5 times, with different colors. Then I simply beat the crap out of it with screwdrivers, sandpaper, and the likes. Threw handwired pickups (done by a guy I know) in it, along with a 70's neck. I painted the neck and then sanded it back down and slimmed the profile a bit. I call it Graffiti Vintage, unless someone else can come up with a better title for it. Stay alert for my threads, I've got something in store for that black Ibanez.

Thanks,
Holden

I like it. Nice work.

With such a nice first guitar, I can't wait to see what you will do to the Ibanez.

How do the handwired pickups sound?

Thanks man. The pickups sound great. The cleans are bright and crisp, and distortion has a light grungy feel to it, which is cool 'cause it sounds really unique.

I've got an arsenal of ideas for the Ibanez and I think I'm trying to settle my mind on one. I love the idea of the paintjob but I'm not sure how it'll look on that particular guitar.

That defeats the purpose. It's a perfectly working guitar. I didn't do this for looks. Think of it as a sleeper guitar

Yeah that works. I don't know. It's just when I think of graffiti I think of art, and writing on walls. But a guitar like that could be in my future. Thanks for the idea, and good job.

My friend got it pawned awhile ago real cheap and only wanted the neck as a replacement, and gave me the body. With no money to rebuild the rest of it, I just decided to **** around with it and use it as painting practice and stuff. Then when I went to sand it again and repaint another time, I noticed the colors showed through and thought it looked cool. That's where the idea began. Once I started making progress with it I decided to get ahold of the various connections I have and rebuild it. There's a couple things that need to be done, for instance new tuners (there are squier tuners on it right now), but I honestly just wanted to have something to play while I started working on the Ibanez.

The scratches and worn bits aren't placed right, but other than that, it looks awesome.

^ It's because SRV is an abbreviation for Super-Really-Vawesome. The "V" is silent

I think its pretty cool.

I could totally see that guitar in a Poison video from the late 80's.
