Im doing a book report on the book called "The Chosen" by Chaim Potok....and I was wondering why exactly the Hasidic religion prohibits the Rabbi from having any communication with his son. Thanks.

Very good book. I'm not sure on this, but I don't think Hasidic rabbis are prevented from speaking to their son(s); and that Reb Saunders chose to for his own reasons (read the book again...).

Yeah, it was a good book, for the parts that I read. I didn't get to finish it because I was sick and throwing up, and I need to do a report over it for tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure that it's not a requirement, it's just how Reb Saunders chose to raise Danny. I've got a test on it next week.
