Rondel: Mechanics

Believing is to forget the past, or so say the small;
But they know little of the mechanics of chance and fate;
And they even proclaim to guests in the banquet hall
(For that is what they need to halt the fall)
That to remember the past is to embrace the hate.

They say that people refuse to jump the wall,
That they shall do it tomorrow. It's getting late,
And realising we're too short to stand tall,
Is it any wonder we're not doing great?

As always, the solution is not at all
As easy to see as food on the plate -
Believing is to forget the past, or so say the small;
But they know little of the mechanics of chance and fate.

The Sculptee

I am trying to transfix
this broken shutterbox
that i call memory,
when my vision ascends
upon your chiselled skin
and your tarnished eyes,
upon open hands
with missing fingers.

I am trying to preserve
a portion of time,
as the flame
of a candle
thats been burning
all night.

I am trying to digress
from the most subtle
of smiles
to ever grace the lips
of a goddess
so white.

History,
not destiny,
is what brought you
to me.
