So I was doing a report the other day for my English Comp class and I decided to do it over body modification. While I was doing the research I found that alot of people are totally and unfairly against body modification. I read an article by some religious group that claimed that because the Bible says not to mark on your body that your going to hell for having any body mods. Then later the Bible says that you can adorn temples of God and that your body is a temple of God, so to me thats all a bit hypocritical, but whatever.

Then I found an article by some ajck off who is a writer for some paper. Obviously its a rag that homeless people wipe their asses with because I had never heard of it, but this guy went on to take an article over people suing corporations over descrimination of body mods and turn it into a one sided tyrate against anything closely resembling body mods.

NOw I think its funny that in America we are groomed to live with body modifiaction daily, even in the most religious and strict households. I mean cutting your hair and shaving are technically body modifications. Then you have the preachers who have their sermons on the damnation of those with bod mod, while their wives sit in the first row with lyposuction and a boob job.

I just kind of wish that people would stop all the stereotyping that goes on. And yeah Im a little biased since I have about 20 tattoos and about 15 holes in my body, but I mean enough is enough. When are people going to realize that bod mod is something that will be around for a while?

I find it completely ridiculous that people can be discriminated on based on the way they look in the work place, but companies get around it every day. They basically just say that clients seeing a person with a million tats would take business elsewhere and other crap.

Lol your statement was stereotyping on so many levels. The preacher sits up their and preaches against body mods while his wife sits in the front row with lypo and a boob job? At your church? At my church they don't preach trivialness during the sermon.

Welcome back man.

...about the thread...

I don't see the problem with shaving and keeping your body in shape... but it is a bit contradictory in some instances; such as you mentioned, with the preacher and his wife. People are people, sometimes we suck... sometimes were cool.

EDIT:

I know for a fact you can't get a job at some golf courses if you have ear piercings or certain tattoos. I used to work at one, and I couldn't even grow my hair out past the "socially excepted" level. While the Indians (It was an Indian Casino/golf course) could grow their hair out as much as they wanted.

Thanks for the welcome back. But yeah, I just find it all a bit unfair that just because I have tattoos that arent "proper looking" that I am automatically labeled as a criminal. Its just a bunch of bull shit.

Hey, I get the cops called on me for walking around my neighborhood, and I dress normal and don't have any tattoos. It is probably because I am hispanic in a mainly white neighborhood. You chose to get the tattoos, I didn't choose to be Mexican American so suck it up.

What are you even rambling about? That fact that your mad that your a Mexican? I think you need to suck it up.

When 40% of the population between the age of 18 and 29 have a tattoo of some sort, I dont understand the hatred for them, thats all. Dont play the racial card thinking your special. This thread was intended on body modification, not racial profiling.

The point in my statement I guess was... you knew that was going to happen, and you did it anyway. Tattoos are accepted, people just don't think it makes you seem professional when its naked ladies all up and down your arms, and up your neck and all over your body. I'm not saying thats what you have though. My sister has 3 tattoos and she has never faced any trouble from them, because most of the time they are not exposed.

I thought I'd be about Nelsean.

People will judge you no matter what, even if you look unbelievably proper they still will because that's what they do. Just ignore it.

The people in the Body modification thread are very friendly and helpful, you could ask in there.

Unlike me, I still remember that discussion we had *shakes fist angrily*

^ But this doesnt really belong in the BOdy Mod thread because its about why everyone else out side of the bod mod culture has a problem with it. Why ask a bunch of people who are tattooed and pierced why people dont like it when you can go straight to the source?
#14
Because they probably recieve a lot of stigma for the way they look, and could help you out that way. Doesn't hurt to have both.

Amen, brother. I have a labret piercing (as most UG'ers who are familiar with me know), and I want more, and definately some tats. It's amazing how many people disregard me just for having a little bar in my face!
