haha nice to meet ya'll i'm self teaching myself guitar and have been for the last couple of months, and ive got alot of the basic chords sussed.

Trying to play How to Save a Life - The Fray

D/F# is proving to be quite a struggle I was wondering if there were any easy ways to hit the chord, or if i'm putting my fingers in the right places etc.

Any other newbie song recommendations would be appreciated too

Cheers

I tend to create the normal D chord with my index, middle and ring finger, then hold down the F# with my thumb by wrapping it around the neck

^that would be the easiest way to go about doing it... mute the the a string with your thumb as well

make your standard D chord, and then throw your pinky around front to hit the 4th fret on the D string

Some acoustics have huge necks, he might not be able to do it.

For the xx4232 form, barre the three top strings with your index, press down D ( B string, erd fret) with your middle and hit the F# (D string, fourth fret) with your pinky or ring finger.
