Overdrive, fuzz, distortion. How would you define these three types of sound - three degrees of distorted extremity, or are there finer points that distinguish them?

overdrive is probably the lowest gain sound, more for classic rock, distortion is more like moderm metal and fuzz if the distortion people like hendrix used on heavier songs, like purple rain, or so i think anyway lol

Get him into blues. Lyrical depth-not so much. But it is groovy and it is black people's music so if he doesn't enjoy then he is not a true black person.

It's Purple Haze. Purple Rain is a Prince song.

OD and distortion are explained in the Announcement that casualty01 made a while ago. Fuzz is the kind of distortion you hear with Clapton, Hendrix, and other classic rock guitarists.
