Hi Guys,

I've been doing a bit of thinking and I need your advice. I'm thinking of buying a multi effects pedalboard to get rid of the various footswitches, stomp boxes and ac adaptors i have littered around. What i'm looking for is an amp that JUST amplifies the guitar, no O.D, EFX or any extras. Just on channel, clean. Should I buy a cab? Can a cab have a guitar directly jacked into it or does it need a head? Do you know any combos that are simple and cheap, but loud and robust?

I appreciate any help you can offer!

you will need a head to power a cab
the head amplifies the signal your guitar gives and makes it audible
a budget would help for suggestions

and why would you want to replace the 1(!) pedal you have with a multi-effects unit?

If you wanted to, you could use something like a POD as a preamp, then buy a power amp, then buy a cab and it'd be all you need.

Not sure if that's the best course to go, but it's doable .

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

what pedals do you have?
if there not cheap digital pedals
i'd keep em

for an amp, you should probably look into a decent tube combo (maybe save up a little more)
