what do you want to do to your tone?

do you want to modulate it?

An Echo, a Chorus & a nice O/D will get you a resembling Floyd Sound.

Although Gilmour used a huge array of effects to get his sounds.

You'd need a single coil guitar to, preferably with EMG's to.

Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

A good delay pedal, such as the Boss DD-6, as well as making some queer echo sounds can also make your sound a lot more spacious. Gilmour always had one on.

Also, get a Big Muff Fuzz and an MXR compressor.

for a decent multi effects unit look into the boss me-50 or gt-8

i dont know your budget though, so they could be more than you are willing/able to spend

If you like Pink Floyd, a couple pedals to look into would be a Fuzz Pedal, a Phaser, a Uni-Vibe, and a Compressor.
Some specific ones would be:
-Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face
-Univox Uni-Vibe
-MXR Phase 90
-MXR Dynacomp

These would be a good place to start but you have to take your guitar and amp into much consideration. Also, a lot of Dave Gilmour's sound comes from his hands which nobody can replicate

the recent arbiter fuzz's and the univox's that dunlop makes arent that good

for a fuzz: big muff pi or fuzz factory
for the univibe: voodoo labs makes a decent one

Gilmour used a big muff. I would go for that. Its by far my favorite pedal.
