Anyone got any good ones? I'm kinda stuck writing my own and I'm looking for ideas. Don't worry I won't steal yours...

And no Seinfeld theme please...

I dont come here often but I can only guess there are tons of threads on this.

Just look for some of the chili peppers stuff. They have really good slap bass.

justin, that was easily the most inspiring, helpful piece of advice anyone has ever given me in regards to my musical pursuits.

Here's an idea: Find 4 Root notes (you can add more if you like) and play them one by one. Then incorperate fifth's of those notes and 7th's into the pattern, not playing them in a specific order eg. Not playing one note then the fith and seventh, then the next note etc.

You could try writing something along the lines of Speak Free by Incubus (Uses ghost notes that 6stringbasshead mentioned).

Never knew he'd take it to heart like that.

It depends on what you mean. If you're just starting and want to learn some covers..."Take the Power Back" by Rage was the first slap bass part I ever learned. If you're beyond the somewhat simpler slap basslines, and you want to know some more diificult covers...look up some Victor Wooten stuff, maybe some Les Claypol (although he taps a little more than he plays slap). If you want techniques and ideas for some inspiration...try to start stretching your boundries with some double slap(throw your pinky into some of those slaps). I like to pop 4th's and 7th's chords like ryknow. Something like...

Here's one of my band's songs. One of the few that we actually based around a bass line.

Slap... Pop...
G ------------------------------------------------------------------------5p3h5p3------------------------
D ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------5-3-5p3h5p3-------
A --------x-3-x-5-x-3---------x-3-x-5-x-3----------x-3-x-5-x-3---------------------------------5----
E --3h5-----------------3h5-------------------3h5-------------------------------------------------------

It's pretty simple, but I like it. But that's just the basics of it; I usually do a lot of improvisation, especially with the popped part.
