So... this summer when I FINALLY get to come to the US... I'm going all out...

I'm buying new pickups!! They need to be awesome... Maybe EMGs or Seymours

I'm buying new:
-Distortion pedal (Metal Muff)
-Wah (Zakk Wylde)
-Tuner (Boss pedal)
-Noise Gate (Boss)
-Pedal board (need help on this one :P)

AND I'm getting strap locks...

So yeah... I'm gonna be broke... but It will be worth it !

So hows this sound? I play mostly alternative and metal.

i'd get a new amp if i were you

but if you think you're good on that
maybe get an ISP decimator instead of the boss noise gate

sounds good, but is it really THAT much more expensive where you live, that you dont wanna buy ur stuff there?

and get an amp - stop playing with that pocket radio!
#4
^ Well, first off it that stuff isn't even available in the Bahamas... and to order it in would be lots of $$...
#5
Ive actually been thinking about a new amp... but what should I get? I dont want anything too expensive..
#6
dont get a load of effects....just get a better amp. there's no point of having a bunch of effects, when your output sound is still crappy in the end.

what genre do you play?
#7
^alternative and metal

whats your budget?

Don't buy any of those until you get a better amp...seriously, it won't be worth it.

^ hey i guess since you're going on a trip, you wont be able to take like a halfstack with you . if you could, i'd suggest this

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Randall-RX120DHS-120W-Half-Stack-Guitar-Amp-with-4x12-Cabinet?sku=481269

otherwise, look into this?

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Blues-Junior-Combo-Amp?sku=480512

probably good, but get a pedal to help it along for metal, or something.
#15
also i play in a band.. so i need something powerful enough to cut through as well.
#16
^ everything above is more than enough. the randall will even serve you for gigs, surely. the blues junior has super tone, and is more than you'll need at practice.

take it like 40w solid state.
#18
Do your bandmates have tube amps aswell? If they don't, you'll kill them with your power if you get a powerful tube amp.

^ um. NO!

EDIT: not to user above. but to 'cheapest, largest tube amp i can get'

If you get a peavey valveking, you will be slapped with a variety of things i've got in store in my bedside drawer.

power isnt always good sound.

used marshall tube combo, dsl401 should in theory be the cheapest.

it'll make your other guitarist cry tho, if he's using a solid state under 100w
#33
^you know that you can edit your posts
do it next time!

why not go used
you can find the best deals on hardly used gear

orange tiny terror... check out their website for a retailer near where your going...

it should be rough 30-40 watts solid state when cranked... and you can use your mg as a cab (this is only if you have a direct imput to the speaker though ill show you what i mean in a second) for a while till you save up for a proper cabinet

what im talking about is that wire coming from the speaker that is under the the lettering that says class 2 wiring... if you have this on your amp ... you can disconnect it from its input... get a speaker wire to extend it and connect to the head...sorry for the big pic

valveking - loudness with no great sound. its just REALLY loud, and making a REALLY bad noise.

plus they break down easily.

you know, think about it...why a 100w tube amp costs as much as one of the cheapest 15watters? because it sucks bad. duh.

^craigslist.com is good...music go round is also a retail store around the U.S. that sells only used gear... musicgoround.com is their website

You CAN use your MG as a cab...but it's going to sound a bit crappier than if you had a better one....say, a marshall, mesa, orange cab?
