ive got this ancient , knackered guitar that i was gonna throw away but i thought i might as well mess around with it. it kinda looks like a copy of a les paul i think, not sure which company. any ideas on what to do to it?

First make sure it is indeed a COPY. I had an old LG-1 laying around under the bed for 30 years, took it out, saw that the neck was worn, and was seconds away from throwing it out before I googled the part number and did indeed find that it was a Gibson LG-1 from the 60's. So note to you: DON'T THROW IT OUT!
