King Crimson are quite amazing. Very underrated too. Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Red, and Discipline are their best records.

And for the record, both Frusciante and Dave Matthews are great musicians.

I've only heard "In The Court of the Crimson King" and "In The Wake of the Poseidon", but very impressive work.

Still have many other albums to go through, I just work in order.

agreed, I think its great just the different styles the play from song to song. They have some of the crazies songs ever (Elephant talk ftw?), some of the most epic, and some of the most beutiful. I just love this band so much

Yes! Elephant Talk is ****ing amazing - ****ING AMAZING.

King Crimson is a brilliant band; so unique, man, I love them.

When I first heard them years ago I thought it was going to be some power metal band, it wasnt, and I havent listened to them since, nor can I remember what they sound like.

Amazing band indeed, I love Great Deceiver and The Night Watch the most. Bruford made this the band it is in my opinion. Fripp is great but the drums were really the most essential to the music.

I'm goinig to go out on a small and safe limb and assume their named after the "Crimson King" from Stephen King's Black Tower series?
Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest vocalists ever.

Blue Oyster Cult is one of the most underrated bands ever.

Kurt Cobain is one of the most overrated guitarists ever.

Most modern metal sucks.

Rap isn't music.

Other way around. King Crimson formed in 1969, Dark Tower series wasn't started until 1977...

I believe Peter Sinfield is also the guy who brought Emerson, Lake, and Palmer to the house (of some artist whose name I forgot) where they found the picture that they wanted as their cover for Brain Salad Surgery (though it had to be edited to be accepted).

As am I. I have had In The Court... for a while, but I just got Lizard and In The Wake of Posiedon. I loved their debut, esspecally the outro to Moonchild (it so unorganized, it's amazing...) or the intro to 20th Century Shizoid Man. The drumming is amazing, and Robert Fripp is a genius.

Can anyone tell me what to expect from the two most recent downloads?

Well, out of the two, my favorite is Lizard. It's kinda trippy stuff, but with some more jazz influence, I think. Rick Wakeman sings on the title track, too.

HOLY SHIT! These guy are amazing! I picked up Larks... aswell today, also amazing. Stuff like I Talk To Wind, Cat Food, Larks Tounges in Aspic pt. 1/2, doesn't get much better. I wish Bruford would have had a more "conventional" style in LTIA, but I really can't complain, he's still amazing. Anyone else get a PF-y vibe in Easy Miney?

Oh man! I love King Crimson. I've got their discography downloaded, and am actually listening through Earthbound right now. It's not the greatest quality recording, but nonetheless, it's unique, interesting, and mind blowing (just like everything else King Crimson does).

No one has mentioned Starless and Bible Black?! It's such an awesome album. I think it's definitely one of their better ones.

I'm totally obsessed with King Crimson. I've listened to them every single day the past months.

I'm starting to appreciate THRAK a lot lately. It's a relatively new album (1995) and it's really really good. Perhaps not their absolute best one, but it's highly underrated.

King Crimson are amazing. In the Court of the Crimson King is my favourite album probably, definitely my favourite line up they had.

Red will stomp a mudhole of rock in you. Discipline is hypnotic. Try Those. I'm surprised no one has really talked about them much....

I think they're a bit less accessible as Floyd. They wrote some pretty odd stuff.

That's not to say Pink Floyd didn't have their share of weird material, but when they're compared to KC, the levels of proggy-weirdness are lower.

I would just keep going through albums in order. Which would have you listening to "In the Wake of Poseidon". (I just read that Elton John supposedly auditioned for King Crimson?! What would that sound like... interesting)

you mean Jon Anderson? because as far as I know, Rick Wakeman doesn't sing.
