Same, I'm just not aware of many metal bassist's that use active bass'.

I play an active as well, and metal is my forte. I play other things from time to time, but mostly metal. I think it sounds pretty good.

i find that most bass players in metal use active p-ups

but those with memorable tones use passive!!! \m/

I guess its because you have that added "Power" and boost - which is need to cut through. (Its either that or some sort of effect/amp settings - or if your Steve DiGiorgio, a fret-less )

Well, I see someone caught the joke but anyway, I've never owned a bass with active pickups. Both of mine have active electronics, but neither have active pickups. I'd love to get some though.

I, for some reason, dont like active, but do play one in metal from time to time. But yeah, I agree with Prog, there is alot of bassists that use active.

I never used to play active, but I play active now, and it's awesome...I love the tones I can get out of it...but yeah, for metal, it's definately good to have, especially if you like cutting mids, (I personally just boost the lowest mid range).
