I have a Boss ME-50 multi effects pedal, and can't quite find a tone I like for Crossroads by Cream. I play through a Peavey Valveking 112 with a US 60th anniversary strat. I have to play for a show in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions on settings I could use on the ME-50?

Crank the Valveking and use one of the ME50's overdrive settings to boost its natural distortion.

the VK has plenty of gain to do it by itself.

just loose the multi FX all together and let the amp do the talkin, and the walkin.

i bought a multi effects pedal just to see what they are like. i mean in theory they sound like a great idea, but realistically they are a load of ****. i get much better sound from my amp alone... though obviously if you have a crappy $20 no named SS amp or an MG, a multi-effect pedal would probably help...but if thats the case throw them both in the bin and get a good amp

They can be okay for modulation, I've never heard a good distortion from one though, and the EQ function is often decidedly ropey.

Definitely go straight into the amp. When my band played that, that is what my rhythm guy did. He actually knows how to play the song, unlike me
