I'm going to have to go with the Minor scale as well, it's simple yet oh-so smooth.

Diminished is also fun to screw around with, but it has nothing on the regular minor scale.

A natural minor. I tend to stay in the key of A (minor, major, blues etc). Don't know why, just do.

A major blues is fun for a jam

lol! Thats what I first thought when I saw the thread.

But yeah I say chromatic scales ftw. Not REALLY a scale, but you can argue either way.

Pentatonics, later expanded to the modes (none in particular).

Pentatonics easiiest to improvise in, and then the modes help shape the character.

My favourite one used to be the Mixolydian, but a couple of days ago I've found the wonders of the BeBop scale, and I'm inlove.

The bebop scales are awesome although bebop dominant probably edges out bebop major. I also love the harmonic minor and melodic minor (ascending) and flick between the two while I play.

[EDIT]

http://www.angelfire.com/id/bass/ has some of the more common scales for bass, including the Hungarian and bebop scales.

I tried to bring the images over from the site, but as Sinan posted below, Internet Exploder won't show them correctly. More the reason to go open source...

I use this scale

But honestly, I don't use scales. I only know a major C scale. I pretty much play what sounds good.
