Well my moms a computer technican for this company and they had this huge presentation tonight because there is this new virus called
spycrasher
apparently in goes into windows xp or vista and completely crashes the computer, when you have this spycrasher you can never use the computer again, no system restores, there is no steps to take to get it out you have to buy a new computer all together.

Spycrasher comes into your computer as if it were a spywear or a protection for your computer then it infects your computer

thought you might like to know
keep safe

K I'm pretty sure you can get rid of it. At the very most you just have to format the whole thing. It's not like it goes into your actual computer and cuts up all the cords and burns all of the wires.

I have the theory that the people who create the viruses work for computer companies, so they can sell more anti viruses and computers.

This sounds like FUD to me, there are no other references to this 'spycrasher' malware on any of the primary AV sites. If it were really that big of a deal, then I would have heard about it.

Unless it forces your hdd to grow legs and tear everything apart, you can recover. You may lose everything, but the system isn't dead.

Malware writers have nothing to gain from coding a virus that kills a system, they'd rather have it run in the background and use it to harvest credit cards, ssn #'s, passwords, or participate in a botnet.

Writing malware isn't as easy as people make it out to be, in a lot of cases its very difficult.

Reminds of this **** i had on my computer called spylocked. it came with something else i dl'ed (not sure what). it was annoying as hell. kept telling me my computer was in danger.
eventually symantec got rid of it, but slowed my computer way down.

I know it's a common question, but what reliable freeware can you download to protect your computer, like an antivirus or sometihng?
