Well, my music teacher(school) guitar teacher and mates all came up with different things and I'm completely lost.

I wrote two guitars and a bass track in GP and it all sounds like it fits but I'm lost as to even what chords are being used.

I dunno really though.

I think its c# but the liklihood is that im wrong.
I've got something in my front pocket for you.
Why don't you reach down in my pocket and see what it is?
Then grab onto it, it's just for you.
Give a little squeeze and say: "How do you do?"

Do whatever sounds right by ear. Works fine for me.

Sticking to a key or style restricts your songwriting alot. Just write what sounds good. Some bands will pay no attention to a particular scale at some points in their songs - you can do the same.

I think its in D major. Using scales doesn't restrict you at all. When your writing song you can change key and do whatever you want.
I will shred in the end!!

Are you high?

No he is right, some bands do that, but knowing what key you are in helps people like the TS if they don't know where to go from there. What I do is play what I'm playing, then improvise along a scale, finding what sounds good and doesn't. Then try to find the seventh/root note, and find closure for the riff, finding out which key it's in.
What does the "L" mean?

EDIT: Anyways, one could interpret the chords going as Bm CMajor AMajor CMajor DMajor
