I was wondering what in your peoples opinions are Perfect Songs. I don't mean songs you like, songs you like to throw your hair around too or shake your ass.

What songs cause your world to pause.. your hair on the back of your neck to stand. The ones that kill your need for "God" or the divine. The ones that if someone was to speak during them, you would rip their throat out...etc etc.

A Day In the Life - The Beatles
Machine Gun - Band of Gypsys
Echoes, SOYCD, Time - Pink Floyd

PLEASE THIS IS THE CLASSIC ROCK FORUM - SO KEEP IT CLASSIC ROCK

People don't like Dave Mustaine because he created something that owned Metallica in just about every single aspect of thrash metal.

it's true

I have no inclinations to rip people's throats out, so none.

Mexico - James Taylor

Although there's definitely nothing "divine" or "godly" about it. It's just a really good song.

If you guys haven't noticed, this is the CR forum. No place for Coheed and Cambria

Maybe it should be moved to B&A?

Well I can change the thread title but I don't really see the need. I posted this in the classic rock forum expecting only classic rock artists to be named.

Today - Jefferson Airplane is another one that gives me the chills.

And to the guy who said Epitaph..

"Epitaph" is great. Also from King Crimson, "Cat Food" is really funky and "Peace - a theme" and "Cadence and Cascade" are really calming.

Rush... "Jacob's Ladder", "Available Light", "Armor and Sword", "Red Barchetta", "Subdivisions" all do it for me.

Classical... Faure's "Pavane in Fm" I think it's called is fantastic. Ravel's "Boléro", Vaughn Williams "Toccata Marziale", Holst's "Hammersmith", and "Saturn Bringer of Old Age" and "Jupiter Bringer of Jollity" from The Planets suite. Bach's "Prelude and Fugue", 99% of all "chorales".

Massive Attack have a few really good ones as well, such as "Risingson", "Weatherstorm", "Blue Lines", "Heat Miser".

Sloan and Sam Roberts from north are good for some neo-Beatle-esque pop/rock numbers.

That's all I got for now.

Who cares? The majority of people are posting Classic Rock songs. It's really not a big deal if some people may post a few songs from other genres.

Melissa by The Allman Brothers Band. Christ, that song gets me every time.

Sweet Jane by the Velvet Underground as well. That's as much a classic rock song as any. That and Rock and Roll are probably the only songs they put out that could be considered such.

The closest one would be "Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding, but its too short.
