I need to know if I have too much gear. I have a lot, but I use it all pretty regularly. But I need you guys to tell me. btw I have busted my ass over the past 3 years for this stuff, so it's not like I'm some spoiled ass rich kid who gets money thrown at me, this is **** I worked to get.
I have
My main gear:
an Unknown Model Pawnshop Ibanez
an Ibanez GRG
an Epiphone Explorer
a Vinci Acoustic
a Yamaha YRT-300 Keyboard
a Digitech RP80
a Morley Bad Horsie Wah
and a Marshall Lead-12 Combo amp

My other Gear:
an S101 Strat Copy
a Carlson Tele Copy
an Ibanez Jumpstart Practice Amp
an Ibanez AC-10 Acoustic Amp
a Peavy Decade Combo
a Lyon Battery Powered Amp
a Boss Phase Shifter
a Boss Super Shifter

Oh, and I'm saving for a Marshall MG half-stack.

1. Don't you dare buy an MG half-stack
2. You have alot of gear, you could sell some of it for some extra cash.

dude, you can never have too much gear. if i don't use something i have or not very often, i trade it or sell it and get something i will use, or if i can upgrade, i do.

btw i'm going to suggest that you don't buy that MG, go for something with higher quality. Marshall has a lot of great stuff, just not their MG line, that was a mistake on their part IMO
Now officially has too much gear to list

PM me if you want to know about my recording setup
#10
u have too much moderately good stuff,

why not buy something truly amazing that you fall in love with.
#11
That half stack is the biggest waste of...what, $500? Geez boy. You could get an all-tube fender or peavey amp for that kind of money. Stay away from that MG, you'll regret it!

Yeah, I just need something loud(er than my 12-watt combo), until next summer when I can get a REAL job.
#13
But yeah, once I have a real job(fast food here I come) I'm gonna save up and get some quality stuff.
#14
If you use it all regularly, then you have no reason to get rid of any of it. So no, I'd say you don't have too much gear.

Here's mine, not as much, but I am a junkie:

12 string acoustic Epiphone guitar
Gibson SG Standard
Jay Turser Les Paul
Washburn Electric Guitar
Cheap Washburn Acoustic
Ibanez Classical Acoustic

7-band Equalizer
Distortion Pedal
Crybaby Wah

Marshall MG30
Marshal MG10

I do need a new amp desperately though. I recommend not getting an MG, because it's obvious you like Slipknot, and if you play Slipknot's music, you'll need something heavier than a Marshall. So don't feel bad about having alot of gear, because you shouldn't.

you have too much mediocre gear.

i think the ratio of items of pretty decent gear to crappy gear should be 1 : 3 at most.

you're pulling about a 1 : 10.

no mg halfstack. ever. i'd say sell majority of your cheap gear and buy a nice amp that'll sound great in the studio.

What I have noticed, is why don't you guys buy any amps? I se your expensive Gibsons and ibanez guitars, and wonder, why not have a decent guitar and killer amp? It affects your tone much more

What the hell?
I don't get what the point of this thread is?

You ask if you have to much gear but why? You say you use it all and if you do of course that means you don't have to much. You have to much when stuff isn't being used, if it's being used then it's essential not excessive. And besides you don't want to sell anything, I just don't get why you made the thread, it would have made sense to make it had it been "I think I have to much gear what should I sell".

Sounds like someone just wanted to tell everyone else what gear they had...

Excalty. I know this kid that has a $1,000 Gibson SG, runs it through some ghetto Line 6 stack. My $200 Agile sounds way better going through my all tube Traynor amp.

a) Don't get a Marshall Half Stack. Buy a nice 15 watt valve amp, a Laney or something.

b) Keep what you've listed as main gear, get rid of the rest.

Ohhh god please do NOT buy that MG halfstack, a tube combo or a tube halfstack would be much louder and nicer than that piece of crap halfstack. You'll regret it.

there is no such thing as too much gear, as long as you use it all regularly.

unfortunatly, you have too much gear that isnt really worth it. you have a bunch of amps that arent anything special, no reason to add in another one. i would say get rid of a couple of the ones you have. keep the main one, the acoustic one, and maybe the battery one. then sell the other two and keep that money in your fund for a new amp. then save for a nice amp that is worth the money. you can get a nice 15 or 30 watt tube combo for $500-600 that will sound infinitely better than the MG you are saving for. shop around a bit more for your amp selection and you will see that the half stack is not only overkill, it is a poor sounding, over priced amp that you will regret later. dont spend your hard earned cash on something you will regret.
