No, because the lowest string on a seven string is a lower tone than any of the strings on a twelve string.

Hes right, on a 12 string (usually), the E A D and G strings are in octaves, and there are 2 B and e strings. Since it still has 6 string fundamentals, you dont have any extra range, but it is a much more full sound.

Alot of stuff by Supertramp (acoustic)

some Who songs from '64-67 with a Rickenbacker (like "I Can't Explain", "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere" "A Quick One/While He's Away", "Sparks"[with a Fender 12-string])

Beatles with a Rickenbacker (can't believe they weren't mentioned yet ) Ocassionally used a Vox 12-string prototype for rehersal.
